Foreclosure Intervention
Foreclosure intervention helps people who are at-risk of foreclosure or currently in foreclosure.
Foreclosure program has two steps.
- Attend a Foreclosure Education class
One-on-one counseling is available only after you have completed all the required classes.
- Meet one-on-one with a foreclosure counselor
When you attend a foreclosure meeting, your counselor will need to review a variety of financial documents to best assess your situation.
Eligibility
There are no requirements to attend the classes.
- Our foreclosure classes are FREE and open to the public.
- There are English and Spanish classes available.

Urban Institute Released their National Foreclosure Mitigation Counseling Program Evaluation.
Highlights of the summary include:
"National Foreclosure Mitigation Counseling clients that had their loans modified in 2008 and 2009 and received counseling assistance paid $176 a month less, on average, than non-counseled clients that also received loan modifications. This average payment was 7.8 percent less than it would have been without counseling and translated into an annual savings of about $2,100 per counseled homeowner. The ability of counseling to obtain lower monthly payments for clients was the same both before and after the start of Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP), indicating that counseling retained its positive benefits even with the existence of HAMP loan modification guidelines."
