Primavera provides a range of education, outreach, and fund-raising events throughout the year aimed at raising awareness to the issues of homelessness and underemployment faced in the Tucson area. 2008 Primavera Cooks! Dining EventsFeaturing a series of unique dining events from May to September, community members sign up to make multi-course, wine paired dinners in the kitchens of their favorite restaurants as “apprentice chefs," under the tutelage of Tucson’s leading chefs. Poverty and Prescriptive Solutions ForumIn commemoration of our 25th year “providing pathways out of poverty” for Tucson’s homeless and working poor, will hold a series of moderated public forums focused on poverty, possible solutions to prevent homelessness and long-term community reinvestment strategies. The first event will be held May 12, 2008 from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm at The Stevie Eller Dance Theater, at 1713 East University Blvd., University of Arizona campus. People interested in attending should call Jenna Van Laningham at 623-5111, ext. 104. Refreshments available. October 2, 2008 25th Anniversary PartyIn Primavera's 25th year, a party will be held on October 2 to celebrate people's success and movements out of poverty. Musical entertainment, good food and mingling under the stars will only be a small part of this fantastic event. Hear incredible life stories of tragedy, change and triumph. See what happens at Primavera almost daily. Homeless MemorialA remembrance ceremony for Tucson's homeless and unidentified dead is held late every December at the Evergreen Cemetery County Plot on the corner of North Oracle and West Ft. Lowell Roads. A substantial increase in these deaths is cause for concern and gives added importance to the yearly memorial service held in their honor. Last year's ceremony was held on December 21, 2007 at 4:00 until 6:00 pm. |
